Snow, Part Two

A week after we moved to Central North Carolina,
we had a snowstorm.
I was mesmerized!
It was the first time I'd seen snow in decades,
as we had called Florida home for over 40 years.

Last weekend, we had another visit from Old Man Winter.
Only a few inches touched down,
but it was enough to get me "oohing" and "aahing" all over again.

For the few weeks before,
it seemed so springlike.

Flowers were beginning to bloom,

shrubs were greening up and growing,

and it seemed that winter was over.
Spring seedlings had even been started.

Amazingly, Mother Nature had a trick up Her sleeve.
I couldn't have been more thrilled.

Fortunately, with enough warning,
we were able to cover up our new seedlings
planted in these plastic buckets.
They were nestled in their cozy mini-greenhouses
and fared quite well.
The lids were taken off during the day to absorb some gorgeous sunshine.

The birds had to tolerate some frozen dinners,
but the ice and snow soon melted,
and they were able to dig in to their favorite nosh.

You just never know what to expect these days with the weather.
Dare I say that I think we've seen the last of the snow for now?
We'll just have to wait and see.
